Why the Hurghada-Yerevan Flight Was Cancelled: Details
On July 25, the cancellation of the Hurghada-Yerevan flight left nearly a hundred Armenian citizens stranded in Hurghada. Some are at the airport, while others are in hotels. This was reported to NEWS.am by Raphael Movsesyan, the consul of the Armenian embassy in Egypt.
He noted that the Armenian tour operator failed to pay the airline, which led to the cancellation of the flight. 'They say that the Armenian tour operator did not fulfill its financial obligations, and that’s why the flight was cancelled,' he said.
According to Movsesyan, the plane belongs to a Greek airline, which is ready to operate the flight by morning if payment is received. He informed that the embassy is in constant contact with the airline.
When asked how the issue of citizens’ accommodation would be resolved, Movsesyan replied, 'We are in touch with the citizens 24 hours a day, we say that we will assist as much as possible, but we must understand that the embassy does not have a separate budget to cover citizens' hotel expenses.'
Earlier, the Armenian embassy in Egypt reported that due to the cancellation of flight OTF 3703 Hurghada-Yerevan on July 25, nearly a hundred Armenian citizens are currently in Hurghada. It is worth recalling that on July 23, flights from Yerevan to Sharm El Sheikh and in the opposite direction were also cancelled.
