Georgian Government to Subsidize Transit Flights from Russia Up to 600 Thousand Euros

The Georgian government will subsidize transit flights from Russia up to the amount of 600 thousand euros. According to MP Dmitry Tskitishvili, this decision by the government is aimed at supporting Georgian citizens.

"This is done not for Russia, but for Georgian citizens. The state is obliged to ensure the risks faced by people living and working in Georgia," said the MP.

The arrangement concerns flights from Russia to Tbilisi and Batumi with a transit through Yerevan. The relevant agreement will be signed by the "Union of Georgian Airports." Each passenger is eligible for compensation of no more than 90 euros.

The decision does not specify which airline the contract will be signed with, but currently, the only airline operating transit flights from Russia through Yerevan is "Georgian Airways," with the support of a partner airline in Armenia.
