Makunts Instructs ‘My Step’ MPs to Read the Istanbul Convention During Vacation

According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', 'My Step' MPs are not yet fully relaxed, as most of them have not yet gone on vacation. Developments surrounding the Constitutional Court and the adoption of the Istanbul Convention have compelled them to 'pause' in Armenia.

Recently returned from abroad, Lilith Makunts was calling each MP from the faction one by one, instructing them to make sure to read, familiarize themselves with, and study the Istanbul Convention during their vacation. It is essential that the discussion takes place in September. If your opinion is negative, remain silent, there is no need to speak; if positive, voice it during this time,' she urged.

Incidentally, there are MPs in the faction who have informed that they are against the convention and have asked why there is a need to adopt it at all costs. Makunts replied that first, it was signed by the former government, and they are merely ratifying it because it stems from the obligations of the Armenia-EU agreement. The counterarguments, such as those from countries like Great Britain that have not ratified it, did not receive any consideration.

Notably, potential opponents include Sofia Hovsepyan, Taguhi Tovmasyan, Sasun Mikayelyan, Hovik Aghazaryan, and Sergey Atomyan. Actively supporting the convention are the Soros-affiliated faction members, who have already started public campaigning, including Maria Karapetyan, Gayane Abrahamyan, and Sos Avetisyan.
