M1-Karmrashen-Voskertas-Zovasar Road Section Commissioned for Operation
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Deputy Minister Bagrat Badalyan and Aragatsotn Governor Davit Gevorgyan, visited the Aragatsotn region to check the quality of construction works on the 11.32 km long M1-Karmrashen-Voskertas-Zovasar road section commissioned for operation. Restoration works on the road segment began in March 2018 and were handed over for operation in July of this year, with a warranty period of one year.
The works were carried out under the "Additional Financing for the Improvement of Vital Transport Networks" program. This road section, approximately 11.4 km long, located in the Talin region of Aragatsotn, connects the communities of Karmrashen, Voskertas, and Zovasar with the M1 interstate highway and the town of Talin. The restored road will also benefit the communities of Akunk and Garanahovit.
Minister Suren Papikyan toured the renovated road sections, inspected the quality of construction works, and discussed issues related to the restoration work with the responsible parties. The Minister emphasized the need for careful treatment and maintenance of the road after commissioning.
Minister Suren Papikyan also visited the Voskertas community, where he became acquainted with the completed works as well. According to Deputy Minister Bagrat Badalyan, necessary measures for traffic safety have been taken on the road section near the Voskertas school. The school administration expressed satisfaction regarding the quality of the road.
Overall, the restoration of the M1-Karmrashen-Voskertas-Zovasar road section has included works on soil embankment, drainage system restoration, sidewalks, drop-offs and entrances, guardrails construction, installation of road signs and safety elements, marking, and construction of agricultural machinery crossings at four locations. In the communities of Karmrashen and Voskertas, existing damaged drinking water pipelines have also been replaced.
