VIDEO: Police Arrest Social Security Inspector for Bribery

The police's Main Department for Combating Organized Crime and the anti-corruption unit of the Shirak regional department have received operational information regarding a corruption-related crime.

According to the police press service, one of the inspectors from the social security department of the Shirak Regional Administration was found to have demanded and received a total of 63,000 drams from a woman to include her in the list of beneficiaries and subsequently not deprive her of benefits during 2017-2018.

To include the same woman in the list of beneficiaries in 2019, the inspector demanded the amount equivalent to two months of benefits, totaling 56,000 drams. On July 22, police officers conducted an operational special measure and arrested the 61-year-old employee at the moment she received the demanded money.

During the inspection at the scene, cash labeled as bribery was found, confiscated, and packaged for further actions. The employee has been taken to the Mush police department and has been arrested. A criminal case has been initiated, and the circumstances are being investigated.
