‘Hraparak’. The National Assembly Holds Its Breath Awaiting Ararat Mirzoyan's Return

‘Hraparak’ newspaper reports that the National Assembly is holding its breath, waiting for the return of Ararat Mirzoyan. After returning from the USA, the parliamentary speaker will be presented with a new staffing list, which will be formed based on decisions made during the extraordinary meeting of the parliamentary council held on July 13.

We have noted that the underlying goal of these changes is to eliminate undesirable staff and replace them with new personnel. As a result of these changes, the National Assembly will not have a staff consisting of civil servants, or the current 230 positions must be reduced by at least 50 percent. Other employees will have civil law contracts, which means they will not be protected under civil service laws.

We have learned that while Mirzoyan is yet to return, lines are forming outside the office of Deputy Chief of Staff Lilit Minasian, with people rushing in with ‘candy boxes’ to find out if they will remain employed or not. Some hope to negotiate with her so that Minasian will advocate for them with Mirzoyan. It is worth noting that about a year ago, Minasian was the organizer of a Facebook campaign against ‘Hraparak’.
