Video: Former Head of Chkalovka Causes Approximately 3.5 Million Dram Damage to the Community

Recently, operational data regarding the illegal activities of the former head of the Chkalovka community in the Gegharkunik region were received by the Organized Crime Prevention Department of the Police from the National Security Service.

Based on this information, the staff of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division, in collaboration with the Gegharkunik Regional Police Department and the Gavar Division, launched extensive operational and investigative measures, revealing the following.

According to preliminary data, the former head of the community, using his official position, embezzled funds from the community budget under the pretext of providing monetary assistance to underprivileged families during the years 2014-2016. Specifically, he withheld 1,170,000 drams that were meant for the residents.

Moreover, by abusing his official position, he announced a nominal competition and sold a BMW vehicle, which he had purchased for 7,000,000 drams in 2015, to the Chkalovka community for a price higher than its market value—10,400,000 drams—for the purpose of acquiring a transport vehicle for community needs. In this manner, significant damage of around 3,400,000 drams was inflicted on the legal interests of the community.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding these incidents at the Organized Crime Prevention Department of the Police and sent to the Investigative Committee for further investigation.
