The former Deputy Minister of Environment of Armenia and expert Aiser Ghazaryan has addressed the issue of deforestation in the forests of Ijevan, presenting the first satellite GIF image on his Facebook page. "To give an idea of the terrible scale of illegal logging that has taken place in the Ijevan forestry, I present the dynamics of logging intensity in an area of about 800 hectares of Ijevan's forest management over the past year as an example. The first satellite image of the GIF is from July 2018, the second from July 2019, and the third is a satellite image from July 2019, compared with the transparent map of the forest management (marked with yellow borders). The green numbers indicate the sampling and forest area numbers... And this is the situation across the entire forest management area...,” Ghazaryan writes, posting the next image with the caption.

“Dear friends, I am posting the dynamics of logging in the same forest area of the Ijevan forestry branch from 2018-2019, now integrating optical, multispectral satellite images in infrared, red, and green colors. Here, the forest mainly appears in dark red hue. The polygons highlighted with yellow borders are examples where intense timber harvesting has taken place, and you can also identify other areas that share similar color hues..."
