Fact: What is the condition of the former Ministry of Defense building? Some people have 'occupied' it

The newspaper 'Fact' reports that in the territory of the village of Proshyan in Kotayk Province lies the former building of the Ministry of Defense. 'Fact' has received alarming reports regarding the uncertain fate of this building, with some individuals reportedly having 'occupied' various rooms of the structure and engaging in a variety of unclear activities.

'Fact' decided to investigate the current status of this building and its future prospects. Nuune Aylanjyan, an advisor in the Information and Public Relations Department of the Kotayk Regional Administration, stated in an interview that the building's preservation is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense. Regarding the 'occupations' of the premises, she mentioned that as of now, the regional administration has not received any alerts.

We contacted the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Artur Hovhannisyan, who mentioned that the ministry had transferred the building to the State Property Management Committee. Our next call was to the State Property Management Committee. Nora Melkonyan, head of the department for external relations and informatics, responded to our inquiries. She stated, 'The mentioned building is on the Ministry of Defense's balance sheet; it is incorrect to say it belongs to the State Property Management Committee, thus they can exercise oversight. We cannot comment on the 'taking' of spaces, but we exclude the possibility that anyone has legally acquired or leased any area by contract. Regarding the mentioned property, there is an investment program related to it that is currently under discussion.'

We called Mr. Hovhannisyan again, indicating that the State Property Management Committee has stated that the building is on the Ministry of Defense's balance sheet. The response from the Ministry's spokesperson was prompt: 'So?' Our question was, 'We wanted to know whether the building is under the Ministry of Defense or the State Property Management Committee's balance and what its condition is.' Hovhannisyan replied, 'Even if it is on our balance sheet, we are currently not conducting any operations in that building. It is under preservation.'
