Samvel Babayan to Launch Street Protests Next Week
The "Hraparak" newspaper reports: "Former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Samvel Babayan, plans to hold a rally next week to announce the start of street protests. The issue at hand is that, although Babayan's team has successfully completed the required signature collection for constitutional amendments, both Armenian and Artsakh official circles have declared the process illegal. There is a high probability that the Artsakh Supreme Court, i.e., the Constitutional Court, will reject the proposal, so Babayan aims to instill fear in the authorities and impose the constitutional changes through street protests.
Meanwhile, he is already gathering a team, forming electoral headquarters, and promising wages of 300,000 to 400,000 AMD for the heads of these headquarters. We have also learned that the former commander is being supported by Razmik Petrosyan and Gagik Melikonyan from the Alliance of Freedom Fighters, who have been frequently visiting Artsakh in recent months." More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
