Changes in Radiation Therapy Services for Oncology Patients

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, posted on his Facebook page: "Starting from July 4, there have been changes in the radiation therapy service for oncological diseases.

Previously, for patients suffering from confirmed malignant tumors and hematological diagnoses, except for beneficiaries from social groups, this was provided on a co-payment basis. Now, treatment with intra-cavity devices using TERAGAM radiation and ELEKTA electronic accelerators is available completely free of charge for the entire population, irrespective of the patient's social status.

Moreover, the scope of beneficiaries receiving medical assistance with medical linear accelerators of 15 MeV (mega-electronvolts) or more, including the VARIAN device, has been expanded from age 7 to 18 years. Since February 2019, free treatment has also been available for members of families with a vulnerability score of 30.01 or higher and six other groups of citizens."
