Video: Unprecedented Reinforced Service by Traffic Police Involves Helicopter
On July 14, Sunday, the Traffic Police conducted an unprecedented reinforced service on the Yerevan-Sevan highway. Several divisions of the Traffic Police were concentrated in this area of the Republic.
By order of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, the Traffic Police also engaged a helicopter from the 'Armenian Helicopters' organization for the reinforced service. Traffic Police Chief Egor Karapetyan and his deputy Norik Sargsyan monitored traffic flow and the reinforced service from the helicopter.
A number of law-breaking drivers were identified, and administrative violation reports were drawn up against them. Vehicles belonging to drivers who were found to be under the influence, deliberately violating traffic rules, or displaying blatant disrespect towards other road users were impounded in the Traffic Police compound.
The involvement of the helicopter helped the Traffic Police detect those lawbreakers whose violations occurred in the absence of a traffic police patrol in the area.
Under the collaboration between the Armenian Police and the 'Armenian Helicopters' organization, helicopters will be used not only for the Traffic Police service but also during other police activities. In July and August, especially on weekends and during Vardavar, a significant influx of tourists to Lake Sevan is expected. In order to ensure the safety of citizens during their leisure time, arrangements have been made to deploy helicopters during the reinforced police services on those days.
