On July 15, a major car accident occurred in Gegharkunik Province. Around 12:40 PM, a collision took place on the 52 km stretch of the Yerevan-Sevan highway involving a Gaz 2411 driven by 83-year-old Vanik Petrosyan from Yerevan and a Mercedes vehicle with registration number 35 TZ 893 driven by 21-year-old Sergey Manasyan from Hrazdan.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, as a result of the accident, a female passenger in the Gaz 2411 sustained injuries and was transported to Sevan Medical Center. The photojournalist reported that the first responders were women passing by in their vehicle on their way to Tavush Province, who provided necessary aid to the injured passenger lying on the ground for more than 40 minutes. It was only after they noticed that the ambulance from Hrazdan Hospital was delayed that they contacted Sevan Medical Center, where doctors promptly arrived to take the injured woman to the hospital.
Preliminary information suggests that the accident was caused by the driver of the Gaz 2411, who created a hazardous situation while reversing, leading to the collision.
