Shengavit Administrative District: "It’s a disgrace, was this the purpose of the change?" - Sona Aghekyan
In a live stream on Facebook, former Yerevan city council member Sona Aghekyan highlights the situation prevailing in the Shengavit community and states: "I consider the silence of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Service to be criminal regarding the waste situation. They should come and record that 'Sanitek,' the city authorities, and the administrative district have failed in waste collection. Dogs, other stray animals, and rodents are multiplying, and they are starting to rummage through and spread the rubbish. I don’t know what the Sanitary-Epidemiological Service is being paid for; it’s a disgrace. As it’s hot, liquid is leaking from the trash; this is garbage in all its glory, as if we are in some African country," she said.
Aghekyan, while filming the waste, recalls that waste collection used to be done better than now. "Was this the purpose of the change? It used to be better, Taron [Margaryan] did waste collection a bit better," she said.
Aghekyan added that the non-governmental organization 'Advocacy and Primacy of Values' is preparing a package and will file a lawsuit in court so that all responsible bodies showing inaction, including the Ministry of Health and city authorities, are held accountable for deliberately exposing citizens to an epidemic.
