VIDEO: A Man Held a Girl in a Barn for 8 Years in a Village of Shirak Province
In the Ararat province, employees of the Armenian police received information in June that a young girl had been subjected to labor exploitation in one of the villages of Shirak province for eight years.
According to reports from the Police Public Relations and Information Department, the man was keeping the girl in a barn through regular acts of violence and threats, forcing her to work without pay.
The girl later recounted that she had tried to escape several times, but the man always found her, returned her, and beat her. On June 18, the girl successfully escaped once again, this time for good. She made her way over the mountains from Shirak to the direction of Aparan and hid near one of the shepherds.
