Diplomats Preferring Communication on Social Media Receive Reprimands: MFA Spokesperson
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia implements rules of conduct for social media. This was reported by the spokesperson for the MFA, Anna Naghdalyan.
“As a type of state service related to external security, rules of conduct for social media have been applied by the MFA based on the provisions of the 'Law on Diplomatic Service' and the 'Code of Ethics for Diplomats.' Diplomats who have prioritized communication on social networks over fulfilling their work duties, regardless of rank, have already received verbal reprimands for violating these rules. The application of such rules is a common practice in many countries, and as a leading state in the international arena of digital diplomacy, we do not intend to overlook this important factor. The MFA has a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of service regulations,” Naghdalyan stated, according to Armenpress.
