NSS Employees Arrest Court Staff Member
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has unveiled and prevented a corruption-related incident involving an official of the judiciary while carrying out its functions aimed at combating corruption.
According to preliminary data, the president of a non-governmental organization, a former lawyer providing legal services, allegedly bribed an official of the Court of Cassation to secure a favorable court decision in a civil case for an Armenian citizen. The transfer of money was carried out under the operational control of NSS employees, who immediately arrested the involved individuals.
The bribe amount has been confiscated. A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the NSS based on the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and two individuals have been arrested. Measures are being taken to uncover potential other corruption incidents involving these individuals.
Notice: An individual suspected of or charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, with a judicial decision that has entered into legal force.
