The 'Informed Citizens' Union Sues Arthur Vanetsyan

The 'Informed Citizens' Union NGO has filed a lawsuit in the administrative court against Arthur Vanetsyan, the Director of the National Security Service of Armenia.

The claimant is demanding that the National Security Service, represented by Director Arthur Vanetsyan, provide the requested information.

It is noteworthy that on January 25, 2019, Daniel Ioannisyan, the program coordinator of the 'Informed Citizens' Union' consulting NGO, wrote to the NSS requesting access to the list of information subject to classification by the National Security Service (or a copy of the relevant order from the Minister along with the list), excluding the parts of the list containing information titles that may themselves constitute state or official secrets due to their classification, but the request was denied.

In a conversation with NEWS.am, Edgar Hakobyan, a representative of the 'Informed Citizens' Union and a lawyer, stated that their request was rejected by the NSS, which justified the denial by stating that the requested information contained state and official secrets.

The lawsuit was filed in court yesterday, July 8, and has been assigned to Judge Mher Petrosyan of the Administrative Court.
