Last Year, That One Guy Drank Water and Got Poisoned: Sasun Mikayelyan to Erik Grigoryan

You say that if you raise the level of Lake Sevan, the greenery will disappear. There is greenery that extends to depths of 2, 3, or 5 kilometers. Plus, last year there was a similar incident. Was there any examination done last year to determine the cause? That one guy drank water last year and got poisoned, and received the title of hero.

This was stated today by MP Sasun Mikayelyan during a parliamentary session with the Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan.

According to the MP, the issue originates from the forest: “We didn’t conduct logging, we didn’t entirely clean the area; it’s a layer of peat, otherwise there wouldn’t be poisoning. If that’s the case, fish would also perish.”

In response, Erik Grigoryan said, “Cleaning works in forested areas should be undertaken, but at the same time, reforestation must also be conducted because the existing forests also retain the phosphorous substances that should not be released. However, it is essential that the level be raised.”
