Arsen Torosyan's Friend Charged with Bribery for Hiring a Doctor

Today, media reported that Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Health of Armenia, has been embroiled in controversial stories since 2018. His close associate, Narek Vanesyan, the former director of the National Center for Mental Health Protection of the Ministry of Health, has once again found himself in the defendant's chair.

It was also highlighted that Vanesyan has been charged with bribery for hiring a doctor in exchange for money and has been caught in the act.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, Vanesyan described the news as a commissioned article. “I have been very active lately in the work of the organizing committee of the 5th Medical Congress of Armenia, bearing a significant load, which has not been accessible to some,” he stated. “While working as the executive director of the Ijevan Medical Center, I have never hired anyone for personal, monetary, or other interests. There could not have been any arrangement for hiring an individual with a commonly known name or surname, as they could not and cannot legally work as a doctor in our country. I should note that this individual stated in their testimony that there was no arrangement or promise regarding employment.”

In response to the media's question about whether there have been any other criminal cases against him, Vanesyan replied, “There have never been any criminal cases against me in the past, so it is unclear why it is being reported that I have once again found myself in the defendant's chair, and this case has gone to court only a week ago.”
