Live Broadcast Outburst: Rustavi 2 Journalist Insults Putin
A journalist from Rustavi 2, Giorgi Gabunia, insulted Russian President Vladimir Putin during a live broadcast, reports Aliq Media. Gabunia started speaking in Russian at the beginning of his authorial program "Postscriptum," greeting the "great friend, President Vladimir Putin," and then proceeded to insult him. This outburst quickly created a stir on social media.
The Charter of Journalistic Ethics in Georgia described Gabunia's statement as immoral and irresponsible, damaging not only Rustavi 2 but also the Georgian media landscape. It contributes to a decrease in the trust towards media and journalists, promotes hate speech, and undermines the establishment and development of democratic principles in the country.
Nick Gvaramia, the General Secretary of Rustavi 2, also commented on Gabunia’s remarks, stating that such expressions are unacceptable, although he acknowledges the host's passion.
