Georgian Airways to Transfer Nearly 40,000 Passengers from Tbilisi to Moscow via Yerevan

Nearly 40,000 people have purchased tickets for flights from Tbilisi to Moscow and back from July 8 to October, but due to a temporary ban on direct flights from Russia, Georgian Airways will offer them an alternative route: Tbilisi-Yerevan-Moscow.

This was stated by the airline’s commercial director, Tamar Tandashvili, during a broadcast on Georgian Pirveli television on Friday. “Approximately 40,000 people have purchased tickets from July 8 until the end of October. Accordingly, the airline has decided, with the help of its partner Armenian airline, to offer the Tbilisi-Yerevan-Moscow route,” she said, adding that passengers will not have to pay extra for the modified route, but will simply need to change their tickets and travel via Yerevan.

Tandashvili noted that the alternative route will increase the airline's financial costs by 10-15%. “The Russian market was very important for us. Every day, Georgian Airways operated three flights from Tbilisi to Moscow and back. The company has not only flown to Moscow but also to other cities in Russia,” she emphasized.

Tandashvili also mentioned that the airline will begin operating flights from Tbilisi to Yerevan to Moscow starting from July 8, with two flights per day.
