6.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern California

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck Southern California. According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Mojave Desert, not far from the Searles Valley.

There have been no reported injuries in the San Bernardino area; however, some buildings and roads have sustained damage. Los Angeles International Airport is operating as usual.

As noted by the LA Times, this was the strongest earthquake in the area since 1994, when a 6.6 magnitude earthquake caused billions of dollars in damage.
