Director of 'Diamond' Restaurant Arrested; Three More Directors, DJ, and Manager Detained
On June 28, a criminal case was initiated in the investigative department of the Central Police Station of Yerevan regarding the use of violence against a representative of the authorities, according to Shamshyan.com.
On that day, around 20:50, a call was received at the operational management center of the Yerevan police from 49-year-old Anush D. residing in Yerevan. She reported that she had lost money at the 'Diamond' restaurant complex located on Buzand Street and requested police assistance at the restaurant.
After some time, when police officers arrived at the restaurant, the reporting citizen informed them that she had been assaulted at the restaurant. Anush D. disclosed that she had a dispute regarding the money with the restaurant's director, 54-year-old Narine Charchyan, who had used violence against her.
In order to clarify the situation, the police invited N. Charchyan to the Central Police Station. However, she reportedly hurled insults at officer K. Ayvazyan, calling him a “rascal” and assaulted him by tearing his shirt and attacking his neck.
D. Davtyan attempted to calm the situation, but three individuals attacked him to assist N. Charchyan, pushing him aside, and then forced K. Ayvazyan against the wall, demanding that the area be cleared.
Around 22:50, officers from the 1st company of the Special Police Unit (red berets) and the criminal investigation department of the Central Police seized N. Charchyan and three others: 24-year-old Khachik Harutyunyan from Kotayk region, 49-year-old Vahagn Harutyunyan from Avan-Arinj, 62-year-old Arman Mkryan, 36-year-old Arsen Poghosyan, and 32-year-old Vahe Ter-Esaian, all residents of Yerevan.
Anush D. also stated to the police that at about 21:00 the same day, A. Poghosyan forcibly took her against her will to the restaurant's dressing room, where she was deprived of her freedom of movement for about five minutes. Following this, N. Charchyan, A. Poghosyan, and an individual identified as Grigor restricted her freedom of movement for around 20 minutes, during which time she was assaulted.
V. Ter-Esaian, A. Mkryan, A. Poghosyan, V. and Khachik Harutyunyan were released, while N. Charchyan was arrested and taken to the Yerevan police detention facility. According to sources, N. Charchyan is the director of the 'Diamond' restaurant complex, while Khachik Harutyunyan is the founder and director of 'Berikut' LLC, Vahagn Harutyunyan is the director of 'Berikut EGH College' LLC, Arman Mkryan is the DJ of the 'Diamond' restaurant, and Arsen Poghosyan is the manager of the restaurant. Vahe Ter-Esaian is a well-known lawyer and the son of the late Tigran Ter-Esaian, while N. Charchyan is T. Ter-Esaian's wife.
