The Cry of Sevan: Galust Nanyan

Environmental information analyst Galust Nanyan wrote on his Facebook page: "This is the CRY of Sevan. You should have thought about this earlier, and either raised or lowered Sevan’s water level annually. Remind you, 1 cm of water in Sevan equals 12.5 million cubic meters of water.

One of the reasons was that you artificially created conditions for the eutrophication of Sevan (blooming, swampy areas)... Consequently, it naturally altered numerous parameters, changing the thermal and oxygen regime of the water, adding nitrogen to the water and reducing phosphorus levels. Secondly, as of today, there is a situation in the lake where there is a lot of feed in the lake, but no fish. This has created the current state of the lake. Remember what permissions you granted last year to cleanse Sevan's fish environment and lay it on the asphalt of Yerevan..."

Earlier, former Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Aiser Ghazaryan had written on his Facebook page: "The state of Lake Sevan according to Sentinel-2 L2A imagery as of June 26, 2019. Visually assess the 'greenish' hues of the azure beauty (as a reference, when you open the images, you will see the names of the coastal settlements, the third image is from the Karčaghbyur to Vardenis section).... We all deserve praise!!!

P.S. The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia reported on June 28, 2019, that the process is only noticeable in the coves of the Gavar area, near the coastal sections of Tsovagyugh, and in the wetlands..."
