OSCE Welcomes Prisoner Exchange Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
The OSCE President Miroslav Lajčák has welcomed the exchange of prisoners between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as reported on Friday on the OSCE's website.
This issue was discussed by Lajčák with representatives of the OSCE Minsk Group concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"The co-chairmen informed about the progress in humanitarian matters, including the exchange of prisoners between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The OSCE chairperson welcomed this humanitarian step," the statement said.
According to Lajčák, this step demonstrates how "dialogue can lead to positive outcomes for those affected by the conflict." He also expressed support for the Minsk process and the work of the co-chairs, as well as efforts aimed at creating an environment conducive to reducing tensions and advancing the processes of peace and negotiations.
The mediators informed the OSCE chairperson about the results of the meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place on April 15 in Moscow and June 20 in Washington, the statement added.
