Third Land Owner of Armenia: Who Did the Kotayk Governor Mean?
According to the newspaper "Hraparak", Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan made a noteworthy statement in the National Assembly yesterday, revealing that one of the mayors from the Kotayk region is the third largest landowner in Armenia. He stated, “I won’t name names; there is currently a criminal case opened.”
Although there seems to be everything in order on paper for the village mayor, morally, “we all know it’s not right.” The governor noted that the land parcels were appropriated at half of their cadastral value. “According to the Land Code, up to 50 percent of the cadastral value can be set; they have exploited this norm.”
We discovered that the reference is to the mayor of Nor Geghi, Frontik Tevosyan, who has held the position since 1986 but resigned last summer.
