Squad Commander Accused of Mismanaging and Selling Fuel to Others

The trial of Haik Davtyan, Mamikon Yeghanyan, and Arshak Khudaverdyan began on June 27 at the first instance court of Tavush region, reports Armlur.am.

Haik Davtyan, born in 1991 and resident of the village of Ahnidzor in Lori region, is accused of intentionally allowing the personnel at his combat position, while serving as the commander of a squad stationed at a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia from January 11 to January 24, 2019, to conserve their allocated 120 liters of diesel fuel through an improper burning method.

Mamikon Yeghanyan, a contract serviceman born in 1991 and from the village of Lusadzor in Tavush region, is accused of assisting Davtyan in mismanaging the allocated fuel. He allegedly facilitated the transfer of 120 liters of fuel, which was improperly utilized, from the combat position on January 23, 2019, to Arshak Khudaverdyan, a resident of the village of Berkaber in Tavush region.

Khudaverdyan is accused of purchasing the diesel fuel on January 23, 2019, around 7:00 PM, clearly knowing that it had been unlawfully obtained, for the amount of 30,000 drams with an expectation of payment later.

Davtyan faces charges under Article 179, Part 2, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code for misappropriating or misusing resources while in official capacity. Yeghanyan is charged under Article 38-179, Part 2, Point 1 for complicity in misappropriating or misusing resources in an official capacity, while Khudaverdyan is charged under Article 216, Part 1 for acquiring or selling property obtained through obvious criminal means, if it had not been previously promised.

The charges in this criminal case are being upheld by the military prosecutor's office of the Lori garrison.
