VIDEO: Strengthened Security Operations in Gegharkunik - Vehicles Checked, Individuals Detained

To maintain public order and ensure public safety, strengthened security operations were conducted in the Gegharkunik province on June 21 and 22 by law enforcement units under the regional division and traffic police serving Gegharkunik.

The Police of the Republic of Armenia reports that during the two-day operation, 416 vehicles were checked, and their drivers raised suspicions with their actions. A total of 91 violations of traffic rules were identified, and reports were compiled on these facts. Seventeen vehicles were moved to designated storage areas in the subdivisions of Gavar, Sevan, Martuni, Vardenis, and Chambarak, as their drivers posed real threats to the lives and health of other road participants.

In order to prevent potential criminal activities, 112 individuals previously convicted of serious and particularly serious offenses were brought to those subdivisions. They underwent preventive educational work. A cold weapon was found on one of the detained individuals and was confiscated. As in the rest of the republic, strengthened operations continue in Gegharkunik as well.
