Sending the Child to My Mother: Details on the Horrific Incident

In the village of Hartagyu, Lori Province, a 30-year-old woman who drowned her 7-year-old daughter on June 21 was not a resident of Hartagyu. This was stated by Hartagyu village mayor Andranik Harutyunyan, who provided details about the horrific incident that occurred in the village the previous day.

“That woman was not a resident of Hartagyu, she didn’t live in our village; perhaps that’s why she came here, because she has no connection to the village at all. That house was her late mother’s house, and they probably hadn’t come to that house for about 8 years; maybe she came once last year,” the mayor explained. “Yesterday, she arrived around 2:30 PM, and at around 6 PM, neighbors called me. When I got there, her second husband and his mother were already there.”

Andranik Harutyunyan recounted that when he arrived, the woman was immobile on the couch, with her deceased mother’s picture beside her, and she did not answer any questions. “She didn’t speak at all, didn’t respond to anything; she was lying on the couch like a rag doll, with her mother’s picture next to her. But the neighbors told me that initially, she had the picture in her arms and only said one thing: ‘I’m sending the child to my mother’. The child’s name was also the same as her mother’s—Karine,” the village mayor told the news outlet.
