Mother Who Suffocated Her 7-Year-Old Daughter Attempted Suicide: New Details

A criminal case has been initiated in the Lori regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the murder of a 7-year-old girl. According to the information and public relations department of the RA Investigative Committee, at 18:55 on June 21, 2019, an emergency call was received from the Spitak Medical Center’s emergency department, reporting that a woman had suffocated her 7-year-old daughter in the village of Hartagugh in the Lori region.

Immediately, an investigative-operational group led by A. Mantashyan, head of the Lori regional investigative department, arrived at the scene and discovered the body of the 7-year-old girl showing signs of violence.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Lori regional investigative department based on the characteristics of Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her 7-year-old child.

It has also been revealed that the 30-year-old mother, a resident of Yerevan, attempted to commit suicide by consuming a large quantity of medication. She was transported in an unconscious state to the Spitak Medical Center.

During the preliminary investigation, a number of immediate investigative actions have been carried out, including site inspections, seizures, questioning of several witnesses, collection of samples, and assignments for forensic and autopsy examinations. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and necessary investigative actions are being undertaken to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and complete examination of all circumstances of the case.
