It Was a Surprise for Me: Makunts on Vahe Grigoryan's Announcement to Assume the Position of Constitutional Court President

“Vahe Grigoryan's announcement pertains to the interpretation of certain constitutional provisions, and as we know, the Constitution and constitutional provisions can only be interpreted by the Constitutional Court and the court's judges; therefore, for all interpretations, refer to Vahe Grigoryan,” said Lilit Makunts, the leader of the My Step faction, according to Shantnews.am.

In response to a journalist's question regarding how Grigoryan plans to assume the presidency of the Constitutional Court when there is already a president elected by the National Assembly, Makunts stated, “Regarding intentions, I will say that it is the right of each candidate to decide at any stage whether to disclose their intentions publicly or not. Vahe Grigoryan found it appropriate to inform about his professional intentions during the swearing-in ceremony, and I do not see any issue with that.” She reiterated that for the interpretation of constitutional provisions, people should refer to Vahe Grigoryan directly.

According to Lilit Makunts, Vahe Grigoryan's announcement about assuming the presidency of the Constitutional Court was a surprise for her. “It was a surprise for me,” said Makunts.
