Impersonated NSS Generals, Wore Epaulettes, and Stole Property
As part of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia's efforts to combat crime, a large-scale operational and investigative measure has uncovered a case involving a group of individuals who, under the pretext of receiving bribes, stole someone else's property.
This was reported by the NSS press center.
According to preliminary data, two citizens of Armenia presented themselves to certain commanders of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the armed forces of the Republic of Artsakh as "generals of special services of the Government" and "intelligence, NSS" wearing appropriate military uniforms with epaulettes. By abusing the trust of a number of Armenian citizens, they deceitfully demanded and stole amounts equivalent to $600-1500 from them under the pretext of offering bribes to command personnel and medical specialists to place their sons, who were serving in the army, in desired units or to prematurely discharge them from service.
A criminal case has been initiated at the NSS investigative department regarding the apparent criminal act under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The individuals involved have confessed to their guilt at the NSS and expressed remorse for their actions. An investigation is ongoing.
