We Hope Our Judge Will Not Yield to Psychological Pressure: Chief Prosecutor on Kocharian's Case Judge
During this period, if the court had made any procedural violation, I believe we would have expressed our position. This was stated today by Chief Prosecutor Arthur Davtyan during a conversation with journalists at the Court of Appeals, responding to a journalist's question about whether the presiding judge is performing his duties diligently.
Regarding Robert Kocharian's appeal to the judge during one of the court sessions that everyone will be held accountable for their actions, he said, “I find it very symbolic that such a statement is made today by the defendant, who was the President of the Republic of Armenia at the time the alleged crimes were committed. I believe this already indicates quite serious results, and the indisputable public saying that yes, everyone will be held accountable for their actions.”
The Chief Prosecutor also noted once again that the defense side is artificially prolonging the examination of the case. “You can notice the organized nature of that defensive tactic during sessions, holding press conferences, and applying moral-psychological pressure through various informational streams, but that statement that everyone will be held accountable for any crime or violation, and any official who diligently performs their duty has no need to worry. We hope that our judge will not yield to this moral and psychological pressure, being assured that judges in Armenia are protected,” he added.
