Even after the revolution, it is impossible to get a response from the Republican village mayor. A resident of the Karbi community expressed this opinion in an interview with Aurora News, and at their request, we are not disclosing their personal details.
The citizen states that due to the village mayor Karo Baghdasaryan, they have not been able to cultivate their land for several years. "Due to personal interests, they have moved my land via the cadastral map, pushing it away from the riverside area. In addition, in the specified area of the village, the width of the Kasakh River has also been reduced. As a result, it turns out that they are trying to take both my actual land and have reduced the river on the map and registered the land in its place," they mentioned.
In our conversation, the resident informed us that they have turned to various authorities regarding the issue, and the case is currently being investigated by the Investigative Committee. "For several years now, the investigation has not been able to clarify or resolve a single land issue. I am confident that the Republican connections of the village mayor have influenced this process; everyone in the village knows that he is from the circle of friends of the third president's son-in-law," they stated.
According to the resident, the Investigative Committee and the police have been unable to prevent construction work on the land area due to the direct involvement of the village mayor. "An examination should be conducted in that area, but they are carrying out work unhindered on my land, which they are stubbornly trying to seize," the resident noted.
In a conversation with Aurora News, Naida Harutyunyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, confirmed that a case has already been initiated regarding the issue for a long time (her remarks can be seen in the video).
To understand how it is possible for unauthorized construction work to take place in an area under investigation, we contacted Ara Yengibaryan, the district representative of the Karbi community, who has visited the site (his comments can also be seen in the video).
In order to present the issue from both sides, we reached out to village mayor Karo Baghdasaryan. He stated to Aurora News, "The cases opened against me are the result of misinformation." The mayor declined to answer questions about how he has found himself at the center of several criminal cases during this short tenure and did not speak about his connections with former high-ranking officials or whether these connections are used to obstruct the investigation, as the resident claims.
