VIDEO: Police Detain Civilian Vehicles and Take Them Away. Details on the Incident at 'Epicure' Café

Two employees of the 'Epicure' gastro café located at 40 Pushkin Street in Yerevan were taken into custody by police officers late on the evening of June 7 without any justification. This was reported by the café manager, Evgenia Asatryan, during a conversation with News.am, detailing the incident.

“At first, two police officers came in, without greeting us, ignoring our presence, and asked us to lower the volume of the music. We turned down the volume; even the DJ packed up all his records. We set our basic music and continued our operations since we are open until 1:00 AM. A little later, when customers were settling their bills and leaving, the police returned with four officers and entered in an unpleasant manner, which was especially disconcerting as most of the patrons were tourists,” the manager recounted. “When our supervisor tried to resolve the issue outside, there were shouts, and they detained civilian vehicles and took them away,” she added, noting that she doesn't know what happened afterward.

The café manager also mentioned that the employees were released later, and one was fined for alcohol consumption, which she described as absurd. Evgenia Asatryan remarked that such actions by the police were not limited to their café but had also occurred in other establishments in the capital.

“We are not against maintaining order, but it could be done in a more courteous manner. They seem more like militiamen than police. I can't say what exactly displeased them about us, but their disdainful attitude was apparent,” the manager said.
