Searches Conducted in Prison on 'Zapi's' Nephew and 'Georgian Merab'

According to NEWS.am, searches were recently conducted at the 'Yerevan-Center' penitentiary. The focus of the searches was on two 'thieves-in-law' held in this facility: Merab Kalashov, known by the nickname 'Georgian Merab', and Artem Ghazaryan, the nephew of the criminal authority 'Zapi', Andranik Sogoyan.

Our sources report that employees of the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service discovered what is believed to be narcotic pills and substances during a personal search of Artem Ghazaryan.

It is noteworthy that previously, 'thieves-in-law' were held in various penitentiaries, but recently they have been concentrated in the 'Yerevan-Center' prison, more commonly known to the public as the National Security Service's 'basement'.

Currently, there are 14 'thieves-in-law' in Armenia, of which only two are in custody.
