Charges Filed Against Gagik Khachatryan and Sergo Karapetyan
The former Minister of Finance, Gagik Khachatryan, and the former Minister of Agriculture, Sergo Karapetyan, have been charged within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the Special Investigation Service (SIS), reports Hetq.am.
According to sources from SIS, the criminal case relates to the process of supplying fertilizers to farmers at subsidized prices as part of a state subsidy program. During the preliminary investigation of the case, it was reported that Gagik Khachatryan has taken on the burden of compensation for significant damages incurred by the state, which includes the obligation to pay amounts on behalf of Sergo Karapetyan.
The damage to the state is estimated to be around 1 billion drams, most of which has already been recovered. In response to our inquiry, SIS spokesperson Marina Ohanyan stated that they do not comment on the information.
Today, in the National Assembly, in response to journalists' questions regarding the existence of a criminal case against Gagik Khachatryan, SIS chief Sasun Khachatryan said he would not comment on the news.
