Regional Governors Reward Themselves Again
Regional administrations continue to reward their employees, in some cases even arbitrarily. This is reported by Hetq.am.
There are no clear criteria on what basis and to what extent employees are rewarded. Below we present the bonuses received by the employees of the Tavush and Lori regional administrations.
In the Tavush regional administration, 101 employees received quarterly bonuses. There are no employees who did not receive bonuses. For the quarter, the total amount of bonuses distributed by the Tavush regional administration was 16 million 274 thousand drams. The governor, Hayk Chobanyan, the chief secretary of the administration, his deputy, and three department heads were rewarded at 71% of their salary. Others received less.
According to the budget item “Rewards, monetary incentives and special payments” in the Lori regional administration, in the first quarter of 2019, employees were rewarded with about 18 million 931 thousand drams for diligent performance of special tasks and job responsibilities. After taxes, the actual amount paid was 14 million 411 thousand drams. The regional administration informed Hetq that at that time they had 140 employees and all received bonuses.
“The rewards were not distributed evenly; their workload and the effectiveness of the execution of assigned tasks were taken into account,” reported Lori regional governor Andrey Ghukasyan. It turns out that the Lori regional administration has been more generous regarding the size of the bonus amounts.
