Azatamut Community of Tavush to Have a Leader from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation
The preliminary count of ballots in the Azatamut community of Tavush province has been completed. According to initial voting results, the sole candidate, the acting mayor and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), Vahagn Alaverdyan, has won. A total of 1,046 voters supported him, while 36 voted against.
This news was reported by News am. Initially, two candidates had been nominated for the position, but the other candidate, Sevada Balasanyan, withdrew before the elections.
Of the 2,310 citizens eligible to vote in Azatamut, 1,172 participated, representing a turnout of 50.74 percent. It is noteworthy that Azatamut is included in the list of expanding communities, and new elections are expected to take place this October.
