Pashinyan's Demand is Sharp: Resignation of Vitaly Balasanyan
According to the "168 Hours" newspaper, "Our sources inform that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has placed a demand before the authorities of Artsakh, specifically before President Bako Sahakyan, to release Vitaly Balasanyan from the post of Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh. Our sources confirm that the day before, Bako Sahakyan invited Vitaly Balasanyan to his office and suggested that he submit his resignation. This was submitted as a demand from the authorities of the Republic of Armenia.
Pashinyan reportedly has a planned agenda to dismiss all individuals from the ranks of the Artsakh authorities who may hinder the realization of his planned revolution in Artsakh or his "program" for the resolution of the Artsakh issue. He had already started this process long ago, removing influential and experienced representatives from power, as was the case with the former Minister of Defense of Artsakh, Levon Mnatsakanyan.
Creating such a ridiculous situation, Pashinyan also effectively forced the resignation of former head of the National Security Service of Artsakh, a hero of Artsakh, commander-in-chief Arshavir Garamyan, who was awarded the "Golden Eagle". The fact of dismissing the commander of the Artsakh army without any specific reason provoked the anger of many, especially when it became known that the reason for this dismissal was the sharp reaction of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Artsakh, Senor Hasratyan, and several military personnel to the statement of Sasun Mikaelyan, President of the "Yerkrord" volunteer union, that the velvet revolution of 2018 was a greater achievement than the victory in Artsakh.
After these reactions, Levon Mnatsakanyan was asked to dismiss the spokesperson. Mnatsakanyan refused and found himself on the blacklist of the authorities of the Republic of Armenia, particularly Nikol Pashinyan. In November 2018, Vitaly Balasanyan and others also responded firmly to Sasun Mikaelyan's statement.
At that time, persistent rumors circulated that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia had placed a demand to remove certain representatives of the Artsakh authorities who were vigorously countering the statements of Pashinyan's allies. And so, Balasanyan was also included in that "blacklist," against which numerous actions were initiated by the Armenian authorities.
On May 31, Balasanyan announced the launch of the "For Artsakh" nationwide movement, which was also met with great disapproval by the authorities of Armenia. Despite all this, Balasanyan continued to publicly express his opinions, in which he did not hide his strong stance on the events occurring around Artsakh and the policies led by the Armenian authorities, particularly Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Now Pashinyan has made a sharp demand: he wants Balasanyan's resignation. How Bako Sahakyan, the President of Artsakh, will act, especially if V. Balasanyan does not voluntarily submit the resignation desired by Pashinyan, remains to be seen. According to our information, Balasanyan does not intend to submit his resignation.
Ultimately, after Balasanyan's resignation, Bako Sahakyan could find himself in a completely isolated situation, and it is not excluded that after that, Nikol Pashinyan will also demand the resignation of Bako Sahakyan, not waiting for the next presidential elections in Artsakh in 2020. After all, his goal is to export revolution to Artsakh—albeit at the expense of discrediting the experiences of the military command of a country at war, as well as representatives of the authorities. This export, the deep and direct aim of which has not yet been fully disclosed.
