Criminal Case Initiated Against Police Misconduct Towards Khajakyan's Acquaintance

Recently, a criminal case was initiated by the Special Investigative Service regarding a series of illegal actions and assaults committed by police against the acquaintance of the leader of Yerevan City Council's "Lus" faction, David Khajakyan.

Khajakyan himself reported this information, stating: "Following the confrontation, two police officers were detained. I will present further significant details in the next phase; for now, I can only say that the risk of group interests influencing this case is high, but at the same time, I am confident that no one will evade accountability and those involved in the case, whether directly or indirectly, will be unveiled regardless of their position."

It is important to note that earlier, a recording was released where Khajakyan indicated that an incident involving police officers had occurred with his acquaintance. Prior to that publication, a report had been received by the police regarding the incident, which led to an internal investigation being initiated within the Yerevan police department.

Following this, David Khajakyan had a phone conversation with the Chief of Police, Valery Osipyan, who suggested that he file a report to the police. Based on this, an internal investigation was subsequently initiated within the police's internal security department regarding the mentioned incident.
