Prosecutor's Office Appeals Court Decision Not to Detain Vahagn Harutyunyan

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has appealed the decision of the Yerevan City Court not to detain Vahagn Harutyunyan, the former head of the investigation team for the March 1 case, who is also a defendant in the same case.

As reported by Armtimes.com, this was announced today during the hearings on the appeal in Vahagn Harutyunyan's case by the prosecuting attorney Petros Petrosyan.

According to him, the conducting authority has objectively concluded that Harutyunyan has indeed been hiding.

It is worth noting that the Yerevan City Court, presided over by Judge Anna Matevosyan, rejected the investigator's request to detain Vahagn Harutyunyan on June 3.

Harutyunyan is accused of forging evidence and abusing official authority, which has negligently led to serious consequences, as well as the exceeding of official authority, accompanied by violence.

He has been on the wanted list for 8 months. The investigator’s decision is being appealed by Harutyunyan's lawyer, Mihran Poghosyan.
