Armenia's Public Debt Begins to Rise: Zhoghovurd

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that Armenia's public debt has started to increase, albeit at a very low rate. As of May 31 of this year, the public debt of the Republic of Armenia stood at $6 billion 924.5 million, compared to $6 billion 899.4 million the previous month, and $6 billion 922.9 million at the beginning of the year.

It is noteworthy that during this period, the government's debt has primarily increased, amounting to $6 billion 379.8 million, while at the beginning of the year it was slightly lower at $6 billion 372.9 million. However, concurrently, the external debt of Armenia has decreased; at the beginning of the year it was $4 billion 982.8 million, and now it is $4 billion 917.2 million. This indicates that the government has not taken on new loans this year. The increase in the public debt is mainly due to internal debt.

Further details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
