Residents of a City in Russia Seek Asylum from Canada

A group of residents from the city of Kiselevsk in Russia has released a video calling upon Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and UN Secretary-General António Guterres to grant political asylum to Kiselevsk residents in Canada.

The residents express their dissatisfaction with the environmental conditions in their area. They point out that coal is being mined in open-pit mines nearby, black snow falls during winter, and the number of people suffering from tumor-related illnesses is continuously rising.

The residents of Kiselevsk stated that around 100 families are ready to relocate to any region in Canada at any time.

In response to this action, the regional head Sergey Tsivilev promised to support the citizens. He instructed his deputies to meet with the people, listen to their complaints, and propose mechanisms for resolving their issues.
