Court Orders Arsen Torosyan to Publicly Apologize to Ara Minasyan

The General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Sargis Yeritsyann, issued a ruling on June 7, compelling Health Minister Arsen Torosyan to publicly apologize to Ara Minasyan, the director of the St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, via a live broadcast on Facebook. This information comes from the Datalex judicial information system.

It is noted that former director of the St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, Ara Minasyan had filed a lawsuit against Arsen Torosyan, demanding a public apology and a denial of statements deemed defamatory.

Minasyan had also requested that Arsen Torosyan and the Ministry of Health of Armenia be obligated to publicly apologize through a live broadcast on the official Facebook page of the responding Arsen Torosyan, refuting the factual statements constituting defamation. If impossible, he requested that the defamatory factual statements be publicly denied with at least 1,000 print copies in any printed newspaper with circulation across the territory of Armenia within two weeks after the court's decision enters into legal force.

The court's ruling also stipulates that Arsen Torosyan and the Ministry of Health of Armenia must pay Ara Minasyan an amount of 12,000 Armenian drams, as reimbursement for previously paid state duties. Additionally, an overpaid state duty of 40,000 Armenian drams is to be returned to Ara Minasyan.

If the ruling is not voluntarily executed, it will be enforced through the compulsory execution of judicial acts at the expense of the debtor.

The ruling enters into legal force one month after its publication and can be appealed to the Court of Appeal of Armenia within one month from the date of publication of the ruling.
