«Hraparak». A Candidate for Village Head Who Repeated a Grade Twice

«Hraparak» newspaper writes: On June 9, this upcoming Sunday, there will be village elections in the Spandaryan community of the Shirak region. The villagers will choose between the current village head and the candidate from the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), who is presented as an independent, Sayad Almastyan.

Truly, the actions and ideas of the revolutionaries are beyond questioning. For years, complaints about the educational background have come from Nikol Pashinyan’s PAP, yet they have nominated a candidate who has received only 8 years of schooling and even repeated the same grade twice during that time.

Villagers report that Sayad Almastyan has been valued in the PAP not for his knowledge, but for participating in a street-blocking protest in a neighboring village during last year’s revolutionary days, and, after the revolution’s victory, proudly posting a photo about it on his Facebook page.

When asked whether his education is sufficient to lead the community, Sayad Almastyan confidently responds: “There are plenty of fully ‘uneducated’ people, I will bring them to the council, so they can advise me. The important thing is that I blocked the road during the revolution.”

This is the nature of such revolutionary environments: an 8-year-educated revolutionary, who has repeated the same grade twice, aspires to become the “auditor of the village,” even failing to understand that the council is elected by the villagers, not appointed by the village head. It is difficult to say where the PAP finds such museum-like candidates.
