“We are moving forward to get rid of them”: Some governors and deputy governors to resign, Fact reports

“Fact” newspaper reports: “Serious changes are expected in the regional authorities in the near future, specifically, according to the information from ‘Fact’ newspaper, not only several deputy governors but also some governors will bid farewell to their positions.

Particularly, there has been active discussion regarding the governors of Lori, Kotayk, and Aragatsotn regions. This list may not be final. Overall, there is substantial discontent within the local self-government (LSG) system regarding the changes proposed in the LSG law.

The issue is that the authorities have set a goal to eliminate the institution of deputy governors. This has sparked dissatisfaction within the ‘Political Contract’ team, with the sentiment being ‘We are moving forward to get rid of them’. The reality is that while it is reported that governors will not be left without positions when they change, it will be challenging to place all deputy governors.”
