Gegам Petrosyan's Lawyer Appeals Arrest Decision on Murder Charges in March 1 Case

The decision to arrest Gegam Petrosyan, the former head of the Armenian police forces, on suspicion of intentionally taking the life of Zakhar Hovhannisyan has been appealed in the context of the March 1 criminal case.

In an interview with Armenpress, his lawyer, Vahik Gevorgyan, stated, "I have appealed the legality of the arrest."

It is worth recalling that the Special Investigative Service of Armenia had reported that on June 4, Gegam Petrosyan, who served as the deputy commander of the police forces during the events that took place in Yerevan from March 1 to 2, 2008, was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime as defined under Article 104, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, involving the use of firearms to intentionally take the life of Zakhar Hovhannisyan.
