Armenian Authorities Have Concerns Regarding Samvel Babayan: 'Past'
'Past' newspaper reports: 'Given that there are issues related to the need for ten years of permanent residency for nomination, Samvel Babayan has announced plans to start a signature collection in Artsakh from March of this year. The process has been delayed.
Yesterday, Babayan began this signature collection to propose necessary amendments to the Constitution, which would allow Armenian citizens registered in Armenia to run for presidential and parliamentary elections in Artsakh.
Apart from the fact that Armenian authorities have shown rather unfriendly attitudes towards Samvel Babayan's political activation, 'Past' newspaper has learned that they also have concerns in this regard, as they worry that this may create precedents not only for Samvel Babayan but also for other nominations from Armenia in general.
